My hope is to provide a safe place for individuals and families to work through their hardships and promote healing.
Hi there!
My name is Amelia Ancell, and I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience working within the Lubbock community. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 with a BS in Community, Family, and Addiction Services and a MS in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2016.
My experience and passion are in working with adults and families who have experienced trauma. In the early stages of therapy, I focus on laying a foundation for the therapeutic relationship and enjoy connecting with clients through expressive art, meditation, and grounding practices.
My approach to therapy includes IFS (Internal Family Systems) and emotion-focused modalities. I have also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I view my clients through a trauma-informed systems-based lens, while also employing behavioral techniques and skills to help clients attain their goals. My hope is to provide a safe place for individuals and families to work through their hardships and promote healing.

I will walk beside you as our collective story unfolds.
Meet Cardi
Cardi is a two-year-old miniature Australian Shepherd. She is a sensitive soul, and works hard to put her trust into others. Cardi has a particularly special connection with clients experiencing trauma, as she has experienced her own hardships.
Meet Bora
Bora is a nine-year-old German Shepherd. Bora came into our lives last year, and we have cherished every moment with her. Once a dedicated working dog, Bora is now retired from duty and embracing her new role. She is currently in training to become a certified therapy dog. Whether she’s offering a nuzzle or just sitting by your side, Bora is just happy to be with you in your journey.
Behind The Name
Change is a process and can be an uneasy one, much like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. During our time together we will develop a safe place before you begin your transformation. You may find this transformation to become uncomfortable— imagine how the caterpillar feels! Over and over again, I have seen clients put in the work and emerge a new person, able to Take Flight to their next adventure.
